Cold-formed steel stud framing connects to overhead structural support using a deflection track and drift clip assembly. A minimum one-half inch gap is maintained between the stud and track to allow for vertical deflection. A TSN drift clip fastens to each stud using two number twelve screws and secures to the overhead steel or track using two powder-actuated fasteners. Stud blocking is installed within six inches of the deflection track to receive sheathing fasteners rather than fastening into the moving deflection track. A continuous bottom track of size 600S162-54 is secured with one number ten by sixteen screw from each flange to each stud above.
