An upward embedded 2:1 shear anchor ties into an existing ledger joist using a three-quarter-inch threaded rod. The assembly includes a custom wedge washer paired with a three-by-three-by-one-quarter-inch steel washer featuring a vertical oval hole. A drilled epoxy dowel is provided downward where access is available from above the framing. This condition applies specifically to shear anchors at existing framing with limited drilling access that are not part of a wall tie assembly.
