This structural steel connection joins two beams of the same depth using a typical beam-to-beam connection detail at the web with bolted angles or plates, supplemented by top and bottom flange plates. The top and bottom plates feature specified dimensional offsets based on the smaller flange width of the beams, denoted as b sub f, with welded attachments utilizing five-sixteenths inch welds at two inch spacing. A solid shim is provided at the bottom flange interface if required by field conditions. Section A-A details the flange plate sizing where the bottom plate thickness matches the flange thickness t sub f, and specific weld preparations are called out along the flange edges.
