An inner hollow structural section column of HSS 4x4x1/4 extends down through a finish slab into a concrete footing of 24 inches square or diameter by 4 feet deep. The inner column passes through a larger outer hollow structural section sleeve of HSS 6x6x1/4 topped with a closure plate welded with a 3/16 inch fillet weld. Four 1/2 inch diameter by 4 inch long welded studs are welded to the tube inside the concrete footing. A vertical dimension of 6 feet zero inches extends from the finish slab to the top of the sleeve, and the footing extends 6 inches below the embedment zone with a 6 inch spacing above.
