A glulam beam connects to a W24x68 steel beam using a three-quarter-inch thick knife plate and a matching HSS 6x6x3/4 stub, fastened with structural screws. The steel beam features half-inch thick stiffener plates on each side and a seven-eighths-inch thick shim plate sized to match the beam width for field welds. Tension rods attach via connection plates and knife plates, with lengths adjusted as required per plan. Wood cladding is provided by the timber manufacturer to wrap the steel elements, and architectural metal covers are included at transitions.
