This structural detail shows a steel beam framing into a girder web via a shear plate and one-inch diameter bolts with a pitch of one and three-quarter inches. Where a beam occurs on one side only, a full height stiffener plate of one-half inch minimum thickness is added on the far side, or the shear plate is extended the full depth of the girder with one side of the flange chipped and ground as required. Stiffener plates are extended to match the depth for deeper members.
