An existing channel designated as C12x25 supports a furnace wall and connects to a shaped plate using a combination of complete joint penetration welds and 1/4-inch fillet welds on 3 sides. Two 7/8-inch diameter A490 high-strength bolts spaced at 5 inches on center fasten the assembly to a bent plate measuring 1/2 inch by 5 inches by 0 feet 9 inches. Two 5/8-inch stiffener plates align with the edge of the gusset below, attached with 1/4-inch fillet welds. The shaped plate connects to the existing channel with intermittent 1/4-inch fillet welds spaced at 3 inches on 12-inch centers.
