A structural steel column is encased within a concrete basement wall at a grid intersection. The wall is reinforced with twelve number eleven vertical bars alongside additional number five vertical bars typically spaced. Shear studs measuring three-quarters of an inch in diameter by three and one-half inches long are welded to the steel column flanges and web to develop composite action with the surrounding concrete encasement.
