A structural steel column rests on a steel base plate set over one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout and a concrete pier. The concrete pier is supported by a continuous concrete footing with reinforcing bars and dowels. Adjacent to the column, a concrete blockout transitions to a concrete slab on grade. An exterior wall assembly features eight-inch by eighteen-gauge metal studs at sixteen inches on center with EIFS finish. A designated location for a future braced frame column includes full cast-in-place anchorage into concrete piers with form savers and protection for future anchor rod and pier reinforcing installation.
