A barge beam splice connects glulam barge beams with a continuous structural steel angle (L8x6x7/16) and a CS16 strap. The connection is fastened using 1/4-inch diameter by 3-1/2-inch and 6-inch Simpson SDS heavy-duty wood screws spaced at 3 inches and 6 inches center-to-center staggered. Clearances of 3/4 inch and 1 inch from wood edges are maintained as specified on the drawing. The assembly incorporates cross-laminated timber decking bearing on the glulam framing members.
