Structural framing for roof openings supports mechanical equipment including supply fans, exhaust fans, makeup air units, or rooftop units. L4x4x1/4 steel angles installed around the perimeter of the opening provide support for equipment extents. These support angles are required unless the mechanical unit aligns directly with the existing roof joists. Framing is positioned relative to the joists below, with opening dimensions determined per the project plan.
