This steel beam-to-beam moment connection detail connects two framing members using complete joint penetration groove welds at the top and bottom flanges and a bolted web connection plate. The top and bottom flange back-up bars can remain unless a flaw in the weld is identified by the special inspector, and run-off tabs must be removed after the weld is completed.
