A wide flange column is embedded into a concrete mat foundation with channel shear lugs welded to each side. Channel profiles MC7x22.7 by 5 feet long are welded on each side of the wide flange section with a one-and-one-quarter-inch typical fillet weld top and bottom. Reinforcing bars hook around the wide flange section at a maximum four-inch typical spacing. The structural steel assembly is encased in concrete per structural plans.
