An HSS hollow structural section drag member is positioned between steel joists and bears above a steel column cap plate. A continuous steel plate rests over a neoprene pad and is fastened to the steel beam with four three-quarter-inch diameter welded studs, with two studs on each side of the cap plate. Steel roof deck panels span across the framing with an eighteen-gauge V-notched plate at the grid line. Steel beams connect to the column flanges on either side with bolted framing angles.
