An intermediate structural steel column connects to an HSS beam with five-sixteenth inch typical fillet welds, and continues down to a steel base plate set on one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout. The base plate is anchored to the elevator pit footing with anchor bolts. A one-quarter inch fillet weld secures the base plate assembly.
