A structural steel column base plate connection is equipped with one-and-one-eighth-inch-thick shear lug plates welded to the plate assembly. The column profile is welded to the base plate using complete joint penetration welds specified as demand critical. Multiple anchor bolt locations are arranged symmetrically around the column flanges and web with dimensions as required per schedule. Grout holes are provided across the base plate assembly for post-installation grouting. Specific weld configurations include complete joint penetration at the flange and web connections.
