A concrete slab-on-grade isolation joint surrounds a wide-flange or hollow structural section steel column. A one-quarter-inch preformed joint filler wraps continuously around the column face to isolate the slab from the structural support. The slab includes reinforcing sized per plan with a one-and-one-quarter-inch clearance. Construction joints and a half-inch tooled joint manage concrete placement and crack control.
