This structural steel connection detail shows a wide-flange beam framing into the web of a W14 or smaller column using a connection plate sized per schedule. The connection plate is fillet welded to the column flange, with optional girder stiffener plates matched to the connection plate thickness and clipped at the corners to fit the column 'k' distance. Stiffener plates are left unwelded in the designated 'k' zone as indicated on the drawing. Bolts sized per schedule attach the beam web to the connection plate. Additional plan and elevation views illustrate one-sided beam framing conditions and offset requirements for opposite beams.
