Floor joists are sized and spaced per plan, supporting a layer of plywood sheathing above. Plywood edges at floor openings require boundary nailing, and each plywood sheet must span a minimum of three bearings with face grain oriented perpendicular to the joists. Solid 2x blocking is provided between floor joists at a maximum of eight feet on center where wood joists occur. Double joists are required under all parallel partitions, and 2x full blocking is provided under all perpendicular partitions. Where two layers of plywood sheathing are used, joists are staggered in both directions. Additional 3x4 flat blocking is secured with Simpson 'Z' hangers at each end.
