Embedment of a buckling-restrained brace casing into a concrete slab with required clearances and bond breakers. Low-density expanded polystyrene bead board, one inch thick at the sides and three inches minimum at the end, is provided where the casing is buried in concrete. A foam bond breaker maintains a one-inch clearance on all sides of the casing for the portion extending into the slab at stroke 'c', with three inches minimum at the end clearance between the casing and gusset plate.
