An isolation joint encircles a structural steel column base plate within a slab on grade. The assembly features a thickened slab edge surrounding a temporary edge of slab block-out with a one-half inch thick full slab depth isolation joint filler strip. A three-inch typical clearance is maintained around the base plate. A round configuration may be used at the contractor's option.
