A smaller structural steel beam frames into a girder web using a bolted shear tab connection. The beam web connects to the shear tab with a vertical row of high-strength bolts. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at the top and bottom flanges, typically where the beam meets the support. Sizes for both the beam and girder are sized per plan. The shear tab is fillet welded to the supporting girder web.
