Two steel channels meet at a splice joint separated by a maximum quarter-inch gap. A three-sixteenth-inch plate runs the full height of the channel webs and is attached with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Two three-quarter-inch diameter welded threaded studs are centered vertically within horizontal short slotted holes. Edge distances measure one and a half inches, with a two-inch typical dimension.
