A steel column transfers loads from an upper steel beam to a lower supporting steel beam. The upper steel beam is supported on a steel cap plate sized per column schedule, bolted to the top of the steel column. The steel column features beam web stiffeners on each side. The base of the column rests on a steel base plate sized per schedule set over one and a half inches of non-shrink grout above the lower steel beam. The lower steel beam also incorporates beam web stiffeners on each side below the column footprint.
