A structural steel beam frames into a column flange through a single plate shear connection. The five-sixteenths-inch plate is shop-welded to the column flange with quarter-inch fillet welds on both sides. A beam per plan connects to the plate using three seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts spaced at three inches on center. The bolt group features standard edge distances of one and a half inches vertically and two inches horizontally from the plate edge. A half-inch clearance is maintained between the beam web face and the column flange.
