The assembly consists of a two-and-a-half-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel base plate supporting a wide-flange column with a stiffener plate. The column is secured by six two-inch diameter F1554 Grade 105 fully threaded anchor bolts, each passing through a three-and-a-quarter-inch diameter hole in the base plate and topped with a three-quarter-inch by five-inch square plate washer. A shear lug is positioned below the base plate, and one-inch diameter inspection holes are provided in the plate. The column and stiffener are connected to the base plate with three-eighths-inch double-sided continuous fillet welds and complete joint penetration welds. Anchor rods require testing to achieve specified tensile capacity with a fourteen percent minimum elongation.
