A concrete floor slab transition drops down via a sloped shoulder into a depressed slab area, reinforced with dowels matching the main slab reinforcing. The construction joint features a continuous keyway with the joint edge tooled to a one-eighth inch radius on each side. The control joint incorporates a sawn cut executed within the first twelve hours of the pour alongside a tooled edge with a one-eighth inch radius. Both joint variations maintain a six-inch minimum dimension at the vertical step interface. The slab thickness and underlying conditions are specified per the footing and foundation plan.
