An HSS7x3x3/8 structural steel member connects through an existing glued-laminated beam using eight 1-inch diameter through bolts at 6 inches on center and a 2-inch by 8-inch by 8-inch end plate. The connection is supported by an HSS 8x8 member featuring an end plate measuring 1 1/2 inches by 9 inches by 1 foot 7 inches, secured with two 1-inch diameter A193 Grade B7 rods and a beveled washer welded with a 5/16-inch fillet weld. A roof over is attached using eight 3/4-inch diameter KBTZ expansion anchors at 12 inches on center with 3 3/4-inch embedment. The purlin features a 1-inch cope clearance, and field welds are specified with a 5/16-inch weld on three sides and the backside.
