Steel floor beams frame into both sides of a structural steel column web with a combined moment and shear connection. Complete joint penetration welds secure the top and bottom beam flanges to the column face, backed by continuity plates on both sides of the web. The continuity plate thickness matches the cantilever beam flange thickness. A bolted shear tab with one and one-eighth inch diameter A490-SC slip-critical bolts transfers the beam web shear. Two-inch typical dimensions locate the bolt centerline relative to the column face.
