This assembly details a wide flange or hollow structural section tube column base plate isolated from the surrounding slab on grade. A three-eighths inch expansion joint material wraps the perimeter of the column base plate to allow for independent movement. The concrete surrounding the column is cast separately from the main slab on grade. A minimum six-inch clearance is maintained between the column base and the slab edge.
