This one-sided beam-to-beam connection joins a supported steel beam to a supporting steel beam web using a shear tab welded to the support. The supporting beam web is reinforced with three-eighths-inch full-height stiffener plates and three-eighths-inch by four-inch plates on each side matching the beam flange width. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are specified on three sides for the shear tab and two sides for the stiffener plates. Field bolts connect the supported beam web to the shear tab per structural notes. Weld backup plates are required on the assembly.
