A concrete slab reentrant corner is reinforced with two number four bars placed at the top and bottom. The top bars maintain a one-inch clearance from the top of the slab, while the bottom bars maintain a two-inch clearance from the bottom of the slab. When reinforcement crosses a construction or contraction joint, it is relocated to clear the joint by two inches. A one-quarter-inch flexible closed-cell foam plank spans the full depth of the slab at the joint, finished with an elastomeric sealant and backer rod at the top.
