A structural column base connection plan detail featuring an HSS or wide-flange column secured by an 1 1/2" thick Grade 50 base plate resting on a concrete foundation. The assembly is anchored using eight 1" diameter AR-2 high-strength anchor rods with 24" embedment into concrete, each equipped with a 3/8" x 3" x 3" plate washer. A shear lug is positioned below the base plate, and blockouts are extended on each side to allow for grout inspection. Fillet welds of 1/4" size are specified at typical connection points.
