This connection details a dropped steel beam framing into a girder web using an extended shear plate welded to the supporting member and bolted to the supported beam web. A three-quarter-inch clearance is maintained at the top flange condition. Where the beam is deeper than the girder and the dimension X is less than six inches, the number of bolts is based on the girder size and the extended shear plate at the bottom flange. Weld sizes are specified per schedule.
