A three-and-a-half-inch by twelve-gauge grade fifty steel strap is placed over the roof sheathing and fastened with twenty-eight ten-penny nails on each side of the truss in two staggered rows at two inches on center, typically spaced at four feet on center unless noted otherwise. The sheathing is nailed with two rows of edge nailing on top of the three-by lumber where the strap ties occur. A three-inch member is positioned under the strap, with a four-by-six at forty-eight inches in the first bay next to the exterior wall. A Simpson hanger supports the framing members, which connect to a steel bar joist as detailed in the framing plan.
