A wood beam bears against a quarter-inch thick steel end plate welded to the steel beam web with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The wood beam is bolted to the steel end plate using three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts. Six bolts are specified for members eleven and seven-eighths inches or deeper, while four bolts are used for nine-and-a-half-inch deep members.
