This plan detail shows a holdown connection featuring Simpson HDU14-SDS2.5 holdowns installed on each side of existing timber beams. A shim plate matching the length and width of the holdown is placed between the hardware and the timber member. Typical existing hardware and structural fasteners secure the assembly in place. The center line of the holdown is positioned a maximum of four inches from the top of the beam.
