A continuous W18 steel beam frames over a hollow structural section post topped with a one-half-inch cap plate. Full-height stiffener plates are welded each side at the beam connection with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on both near and far sides. A perpendicular beam is omitted from the view for clarity.
