A wide-flange beam connects to an HSS column using a bolted shear tab detailed per plan. Two gusset plates measuring one-half inch by ten inches by ten inches with cut corners weld to the HSS column to receive diagonal tension rods. These three-quarter-inch diameter rods include pin connections and a turnbuckle system for lateral bracing. A roof deck bears over the wide-flange beam as specified in the structural plans and schedule.
