An HSS post connects to the underside of a concrete slab or beam with a one-inch clearance gap maintained between the members. Two L6x4x3/8-inch angles at nine inches long attach to opposite sides of the HSS post using a three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolt placed through a three-quarter-inch vertical slotted hole, with the nut hand-tightened and threads damaged to prevent movement. Each angle is secured to the concrete slab overhead using two five-eighth-inch diameter expansion anchors with a four-inch embedment, centered on the leg with six-inch spacing.
