A canopy beam connects to a steel column using a three-eighths-inch full-height web plate on each side sized to match the column width. The connection is secured with complete joint penetration welds and fillet welds including five-sixteenth-inch and quarter-inch sizes. A metal roof deck bears over the top of the canopy beams.
