A W12 beam frames into the web of a W24 member using a bolted shear connection with three bolts. Below, a hollow structural section hanger aligns with the center line of the W24 member and connects via a one-half-inch plate welded with three-eighths-inch welds. The plate extends one and one-half inches into the W24 member and six inches into the hollow structural section hanger.
