Typical protected zone configurations for buckling restrained braced frame connections occur at both hollow structural section and wide flange columns. The buckling restrained braces intersect at working points located near the base plate and connect with gusset plates and bolted connections sized per plan and elevation drawings. The vertical members bear on base plates anchored to concrete footings. The protected zones required for seismic force resisting systems are delineated.
