A concrete foundation wall is supported by a continuous concrete footing with a thickened exterior slab on grade at an opening. Vertical reinforcing dowels match the wall reinforcement above and extend through a one-quarter-inch roughened construction joint. Continuous top and bottom reinforcement run through the assembly, supplemented by number four bars extending four feet minimum beyond each end of the opening. Diagonal number four bars at eighteen inches on center reinforce the sloped transition of the extended slab on grade, which maintains a minimum three-inch thickness. The opening configuration is coordinated per architectural drawings.
