A wide flange beam frames into the web of a supporting wide flange beam using a welded shear plate and structural bolts. The supported beam flange is coped as required with a typical three-inch center-to-center bolt spacing and one-and-three-quarter-inch edge distances. Horizontal short-slotted holes are permitted in the shear plate with hardened washers provided over the slots for type 'N' bearing connections. If dimension 'A' exceeds six inches, the shear plate extends to match the opposing shear plate.
