A structural steel canopy beam connection features a 50 KSI web plate sized to the beam web thickness plus one-eighth inch. The web plate is secured with three seven-eighths inch diameter erection bolts on each side. The top and bottom flanges are joined with complete joint penetration welds incorporating typical weld access holes. A five-sixteenth inch fillet weld with one-inch returns is specified for the web connection. Additional five-sixteenth inch fillet welds are applied across three sides.
