A mechanical unit weighing two thousand five hundred pounds or less is suspended from a structural steel joist and metal roof deck assembly using hanging rods coordinated with the mechanical contractor. Two L5x3x1/4 angles are provided, with Unistrut specified for units weighing less than 300 pounds. Typical L6x4x5/16 angles measuring zero feet ten inches long are welded with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Five-and-a-half-inch by three-inch spacer plates one-sixteenth inch thicker than the hanging rods are placed at the third points. All welds are specified as one-quarter-inch fillet welds typical.
