A structural steel column connects to a base plate with a complete-joint-penetration doubler plate welded at the base. A gusset plate with a ninety-degree orientation is welded to the base plate and supports a diagonal member encased in casing. The diagonal member connects to the gusset plate through a multi-bolt shear connection. Additional weld symbols and dimensional variables designate the plate lengths, widths, and edge distances.
