A hollow structural section column per plan is welded to a one-inch-thick base plate with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The assembly is anchored to the concrete footing using four one-inch-diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods embedded one foot zero inches typical. Each anchor rod includes a three-inch square by three-eighths-inch-thick A36 plate washer. A two-inch minimum non-shrink grout bed is provided beneath the base plate above the top of the footing. Column orientation follows the structural plan.
