Existing open web steel joist reinforcement for new point loads consists of L2 x 2 x 1/4 inch steel angles installed on both sides of the joist web. Reinforcement angles extend to the nearest panel point on the opposite chord. Connection points require a 3/16 inch fillet weld with a 2 inch length. Reinforcement maintains a clearance of less than 6 inches from existing web members at the top chord and a minimum of 6 inches from existing web members at the bottom chord.
